Evgeny Granilshchikov

(1985)

Granilshchikov is an artist and independent film director. He studied literature and animation, graduating from the Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia, and was the recipient of a bursary from the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art. At present Granilshchikov lives in Moscow and Bangkok, producing works in different media, combining them and creating multi-part projects. Since 2013 he has been collaborating with Yasha Vetkin as director of photography and with ‘Motherfathers’, authors of the soundtrack to his most recent films. In 2013 he was awarded the Kandinsky Prize in the ‘Young Artists: Project of the Year’ category for his film Positions. In 2014 he took a full-length film, To Follow Her Advice, and used it to produce several short-cut films. These works explore the way in which historical background influences the private sphere and contemporaneous issues.

Granilshchikov has recently exhibited in the Hayward Gallery Project Space, as part of the group show Burning News (2014), as well as participating in the Third (2012) and Fourth (2014) Moscow International Biennale for Young Art.
